The parable of the two sons (Matthew 21:28-32)

Jesus asks the Pharisees about a parable.  In the parable, there are two sons of the same father.  One refuses to work his father's vineyard, but later changes his mind and does it.  The other son agrees to work the vineyard, but then does nothing.

The Pharisees agree that the first son did what the father wanted.

Jesus then uses this an example to contrast the tax collectors with the Pharisees.  On prior occasions, Jesus did not interpret the parables with those other than his disciples.  Here, Jesus does, but after they had agreed on the principle of the parable.

The parable is another expression of grace.  It is more important to God that we turn around if we are in the wrong, as opposed to acknowledging God, but then doing nothing about it.
