Joshua 24

Joshua recounts the history of the Israelites from Abraham to the conquest of Canaan. Interesting, Abraham was from the other side of the Euphrates. I never knew that.

The people renew their covenant with God Yay. A stone is rolled next to the Tabernacle to memorialize the moment.

In the midst of the discussion, Joshua tells them to destroy the idols among the Israelites. This presumes there were idols among them.

Joshua dies at the ripe old age of 110. He is buried in the Ephraim land.

Remember Joseph's bones? They are buried in the parcel of land that Jacob bought to bury Isaac.

Eleazor, son of Aaron, also dies and is buried in land belonging to Phinehas. His death also means that those living in the cities of refuge who accidentally killed people are free to return home.

The book of Joshua ends with faith riding high among the Israelites. God's plan to make the Egyptian generation die off worked well and the people have a strong sense of faith and identity, as indicated by the eastern altar incident.

Next up - Judges. It has the account of Samson, but also some really crazy and disturbing stories.
