Judges 1-0

Tola and Jair are briefly mentioned as judges, but we do not get many details about them. Jair had 30 sons who had 30 towns, so he sounds like a regional warlord.

Afterwards, Israel falls away from God and is in turn oppressed by various armies. They declare their sins, but God basically says “I saved you before”. They then put away their idols and then God can no longer ignore the suffering of the people. I find that dynamic interesting.

The chapter ends with the Israelites asking who will rise up and lead them against their foes.
