Jesus returns back to his hometown and preaches the synagogue. The local people are astonished, but not because of the magnitude of the miracles. Rather, they are surprised that this person who grew up in the area is now a leader.
Unfortunately, Jesus can only do small scale miracles because of their lack of faith. This is an interesting statement to make and suggest that faith in miracles is associated with them actually happening. The Bible makes statements similar to this in other places, but it is an interesting statement given that Jesus does many miracles in front of the disciples and then tells them they lack faith.
The text mentions Jesus' human family. He has other brothers - James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. He has sisters too, but they are not specified.
